GIA 03

A small exhibition on a tight budget this was the second consecutive annual exhibition designed for the GIA by NORD.

NORD were interested in the notion of the office as a generic environment and the idea of distilling the experience of the office for a lay audience. There is an idea of demystification implicit in the design. The underlying intention was to expose something of the workings of the office (in particular the architect’s office).

The exhibition display consists of a single anglepoise lamp donated by each of the architectural practices selected to show work in the exhibition. The anglepoise lamp was selected as an archetype associated with the architect slaving over drawings long into the night. A series of slide viewer light boxes display architectural photography while oversized mouse mats contain core information about the individual practices.
