Canal Quarter Hanley

Following an international design competition in late 2006, NORD were commissioned by developers Urban Splash in conjunction with RENEW North Staffordshire to put forward proposals for a masterplan on the North and South banks of the canal at Hanley. The masterplan will create a new neighbourhood, which will transform the canal side and the existing Bridgewater Pottery buildings into a mixed-use development of residential, retail and leisure facilities.

The introduction of family housing and an environmental central spine forming a distinctive new link from the neighbourhood across the canal will provide a pedestrian route to the existing school and Hanley town centre beyond.
